Tooth enamel is a thin layer that protects your teeth from dangers that seek to destroy your smile. Did you know that acidic foods are strong enough to eat through tooth enamel? This process is called dental erosion and can be caused by a myriad of factors. Listed below are a few things you can do to protect your tooth enamel:

– Avoid acidic foods. Unfortunately, some foods already come with an additional amount of acidity and a low pH capable of eating through tooth enamel.

– If you must eat acidic foods, always eat them with a meal. To clean your teeth afterward, never brush as this could cause abrasion damage due to heightened tooth sensitivity. Instead, try using a supplemental dental cleaning tool such as mouthwash.

– Never eat or drink products with an extremely low pH level. This especially includes sour candies.

– Eat healthy snacks.

– To improve your oral health, take products that can increase your saliva production after meals. This includes sugarless chewing gum.
