Amanda Lewis, DMD

Dr. Lewis was born and raised in the Quad Cities and graduated from United Township High School in 1997. She graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in 2004 after completing her undergraduate education at the school’s Edwardsville campus. She practiced for over a year in St. Charles County in Missouri, outside of St. Louis. Dr. Lewis moved to Decatur after purchasing the dental practice of Dr. Douglas Nichols in January of 2006.

Dr. Lewis is active in state and local dentistry organizations. She has served on the Board of Trustees for the Illinois State Dental Society as well as state committees. She has been proposed for membership in the International College of Dentists, where she will be inducted in 2015. She has appeared on the cover of Dentistry Today, a national dental magazine.

She is married to Dr. Haarman. They have a son, Paul, who was born in January of 2012 and a daughter, Agnes, who was born in September 2014. Drs. Lewis and Haarman also have two dogs and two cats. They love to travel, cook, and spend time with their busy family! Dr. Lewis is an active member of P.E.O, serving as president of Chapter GR from 2013-2015. Locally she has been active in the Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation and currently serves on the Advisory Board for St. Mary’s Hospital.

Greg Haarman, DMD

Dr. Haarman was raised near Strasburg, IL, and graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg in 1993. He received his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Illinois in 1999. He then attended Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, graduating in 2003. He graduated Magma Cum Laude and is a member of OKU, a dental honors fraternity. He was a resident at a trial dental program at St. Louis University Children’s Hospital prior to returning to the Effingham, IL, area to practice general dentistry. He moved to Decatur in 2006.

Dr. Haarman is involved in the Decatur Dental Society, serving in many roles, including Vice President. He sits on the Moultrie County Board of Health. Dr. Haarman is also an active member in the Taylorville Kiwanis Club.

Dr. Haarman is married to Dr. Lewis and they have one son, Paul, and a daughter, Agnes, who was born in September 2014. They have two dogs and two cats. Dr. Haarman has a green thumb and a love of tomato gardening. He is an avid cook and enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, teaching Paul about nature right in the city.

Judy
JudyJudy is one of the first team members our patients meet. Judy works to ensure patient comfort and helps our patients understand the complicated world of dental treatment. Her positive attitude and spontaneous dance moves keep patients at ease. Judy graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1978. She has been in the dental field for over 33 years, and at our office for over 30 of those years. Judy and her husband, Kevin, live in Long Creek and have been married since 1993. Judy enjoys golfing, gardening, reading, and spending time with her daughter, Emily, her son-in-law, Jacob, and her dog, Buddy.


Kayla
609_KaylaKayla is our lead dental hygienist. She became a team member in March 2011. Kayla is a Decatur native and a graduate of Eisenhower High School. She completed her dental hygiene degree at Lake Land College in Mattoon, IL, in 2010. Kayla has advanced training in periodontal therapy and the delivery of local anesthetics. Kayla has one cat, Dora. Her hobbies include reading, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to Florida.


Shelley

Shelley is our office manager. She joined our team in March 2009. Shelley graduated from Maroa-Forsyth High School in 1994. She attended Eastern Illinois University. Shelley has worked in the dental field since 1998. She and her husband, Scott, live in Mt. Pulaski with their threes dogs, Jack, Kaene, and Fritz. Shelley enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and shopping. Shelley and her husband welcomed their first child in November 2014.

April is the office manager at the Taylorville office. April was born and raised in Taylorville. She graduated from Taylorville High School and Lincoln Land Community College with a degree in computer programming. She has worked in the dental field for 26 years. April lives in Taylorville with her husband Jeff and son Nathan. She enjoys reading and spending time with her family.


Barb

Barb is the dental hygienist at the Taylorville office. A graduate of Lake Land College in Mattoon, Barb brings over 30 years of experience to the dental chair. Barb grew up in Calhoun County but now resides in Taylorville with her husband, Kerry, and son, Patrick. Barb enjoys rooting on the St. Louis Cardinals and reading a good book.


Lisa

Lisa hails from southern Illinois but transplanted to central Illinois 20 years ago and now resides in Taylorville with her husband, Michael, and three sons. She graduated from Southern Illinois Carbondale with a degree in dental hygiene. Lisa loves animals and has two dogs, three cats, a tortoise, and hedgehogs. When Lisa isn’t working she enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time outdoors with her family. She also enjoys martial arts and has done this sport over 15 years with a special focus in Women’s Self Defense. Lisa joins our team on Fridays as a hygienist.


Andrea

Andrea is our dental assistant. She hails from southern Illinois and is a recent graduate of the Midwest Technical Institute dental assisting program. Andrea enjoys spending time with her two-year-old daughter, roller skating, and crocheting. She looks forward to meeting all of our patients and getting to know more about the Taylorville community.
